About our group activities
We have eight very friendly groups that schedule their events during the weekdays.
Members are always welcome to organize and start activities and groups! Simply contact the Activity Coordinator to do so.
We also have a Facebook group that is only accessible to our members.
To participate in any of the IWC activities, become a member and be up-to-date with member fees.
World Cuisine
Welcome to World Cuisine.
If you enjoy cooking, we will be happy to meet you once a month, to share recipes, discover new flavours and have fun in the kitchen!
Every 3rd Thursday of the month from 10am to 1pm
Explore Oslo
Visit interesting places in and around Oslo with us! In the past, we have had tours of the Oslo Opera House, Vigeland Sculpture Park, National Galleries, Freia Chocolate factory, and even the local grocery store for those who are new to Norway. We pay for ourselves (lunch, traveling costs, entrance fees, etc.) and split any costs for guides when applicable. Every 4-6 weeks, depending on availability.
Book Group
We choose our book from a variety of genres and meet on the 1rst Friday of each month from 10:30am to discuss. We meet in local cafes.
Knitting Group
Think it’s just for old ladies? Think again. Come along for a knit and a natter and maybe make something while you’re at it. All levels welcome! Bring your knitting or other handwork. Meet in coffee shops.
Norwegian Course for beginners
For those who have no or little prior knowledge of Norwegian.
The course will be combined with an introduction to Norwegian culture, lifestyle, habits, traditions, etc. By the end of the course, you’ll be able to have a basic conversation in Norwegian.
We do not use books, but I distribute copies of simple texts accompanied by the relevant grammatical rules in English. Just bring pen and paper, lots of curiosity and good mood!
Place and time: Bekkestua library. Twice a month, Mondays, 10.30-11.30 (first time is September 16)
Mahjong
This Chinese tile game, played around the world, helps keep the brain sharp. It involves collecting tiles to complete “hands”. Beginners and advanced players are welcome. No prior knowledge of Mahjong is needed. It is a very friendly, welcoming group of ladies! We meet at member’s homes every Wednesday from 10am - 2pm.
